| I'm 28, from Upstate New York, and a transplant to Los Angeles. I don't think I'll ever leave, it's just too perfect here.
I've been DJing for about a year now, however, it's extremely difficult to find the the time with law school and a full time job. When I refer to time, I mean the time needed to put together a really solid thought out mix with synergy between tracks, attitude, flow, and at the same time telling a vibrant and colorful story. I say this with some hesitance, but all my mixes are on the fly with no real preparation or pre/post production or editing work. As a result, there are some mix ups, but I'd like to think of that as authenticity. On the topic my routes, some say I learned rather quickly, and was spinning live way to soon. I'd say, maybe, but am quick to point out where credit is due. DJ Jonathan D spent countless hours teaching me to beat match and become a competent DJ with good habits. Much thanks and credit is due to him. Ali Seraj, the mastermind and creator of hdnightlife, was kind enough to provide me with my first venue to spin at, MainonMain, in Santa Monica. I'd also like to thank the Apartment DJ's, specifically Ian Ngo (10.12 who introduced me to all the right people, and all the right places. So, thanks guys. Though I have a lot more work and practice to undertake, ya'll gave me a nice hand into the game. For that I'm grateful. |
